Camping

In Social Psych yesterday our professor was trying to illustrate the Door-in-the-face Effect. To do this, she used an example about her nephews that happened while they were camping, which apparently is an activity that she despises.

Atleast I Didn't Get Threatened This Time

Everybody feels lucky for having you as a friend.

As we sit watching Pride & Prejudice, eating Chinese, and drinking contraband in my room on a Sunday night when the three of us should have been doing homework.

It's the First Weekend in May...

and that can mean only one thing:

Derby Day!

Come Saturday, I'll (well actually I'll be at work for the big race so that'll get taped) be lounging in my living room wearing my hat, sipping a mint julep, and laying my money down.

Right now I've got my eye on Sinister Minister, which incidentally is a Baffert horse. To get your picks, vist Kentucky Derby.com and check out all those sexy horses.

***Don't forget to check out the fillies on Friday in the Oaks. Balance seems to be the favorite among the handicapers, but I think I might go with either Ex Caelis, the Lukas horse or maybe Wait a While. We'll have to see.

If I Still Like Johnny After Charlie

I can still like Keith after seeing this video from his early days as an artist in Australia when this was the look for the young and hip. Afterall, he's probably about 23 here, so that means when I get to be his age all of my college pictures will make me cringe.

Bones Update

Tonight's episode of Bones "The Graft in the Girl" was really serious. And lucky for me, I was able to work it into one of my Psy of Death and Dying papers.

They don't have any of the episode quotes up on the site yet and I don't want to go around miss quoting these guys.

I love the show writers. They're freaking hilarious. Like all those religion jokes from the voodoo episode? Pure genius.

The Palladino Side

I know I announced that the Palladinos were living Gilmore Girls, and here is a link to Michael Ausiello(from TV Guide and a true GG fan)'s interview with them. It's sort of long, but it really gives a look into the direction the show may or may not take.

Late Night/Paper Done/Money Spent

I spent tons of money at Target buying GG seasons 3-5 since they were on sale, cute wedges (also on sale), a new polo (another sale item), and Casanova (which was on sale because it just came out).

I watched Casanova last night with Amanda R. It was cute, but I'm not sure where it sits on my favorites list in the pathenon of Heath Ledger movies. I may have to watch it again. But Venice is beautiful and the clothing is so outrageous. And the ending is really sorta cute. Even if the narrator looks really creepy as an old man.

Naughty Girl

Last night I didn't start on my homework until after 8, and then I only worked on my personality psych paper until 10:30. It's not finished, but I've got a good 400 and change words written. I've got the rest of it outlined, so I'm hoping that it's enough to make the parameters and can easily be finished up tonight.

After that, I started reading The Penalty Box by Deirdre Martin. It was cute and kind of funny. I don't know what it is with me and hockey player books lately but that seems to be the theme. Maybe it's some latent feelings left from that crush I had on Ben Paulson in middle school.

GG Test Run

Super Cool Party People

Luke (Scott Patterson) decides to give April (Vanessa Marano) a birthday party at the diner. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) volunteers to help, and is hurt when Luke explains that he still thinks it's too soon for April and Lorelai to meet. However, Luke changes his mind when the party is a disaster, giving Lorelai a chance to bond with April while turning the party into a huge success. Meanwhile, Rory (Alexis Bledel) rushes to be with Logan (Matt Czuchry) at the hospital after he is seriously injured during a stunt with the Life and Death Brigade. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star.

The episode was written by David Rosenthal and directed by Ken Whittingham.

***David Rosenthal is the guy who's being groomed to take over for Amy and Daniel, so I'm hoping this episode is good. I'm sure he's written some other episodes for the show, but this is the first one airing since the announcement of the split.

Up to Bemidji and Down to No Good

Okay, I know that's a total rip off of Sugarland's single "Down in Mississippi" but I think it truly applies here. I'm not sure how badly the "asses and elbows" were flying, but other things truly were.

When Kit showed up Saturday we kinda hung out gabbing for awhile then we went to the liquor store where Erin played momma duck and I finally bought some Smirnoff. Then we sat on the roof talking some more until it was decided that we were going to 209 to have burgers and dinner. This is where Blake met up with us, and the idea for the pub crawl came into play.

Saturday Night Itinerary:

209 - Burgers, beer

U Bar - 2.5 vodka crans and lots of Big Buck Hunter. The boys played bubble hockey and Jeremy showed up.

Bridget's Cross - 1.5 Tequila Sunrise and a Chocolate Cake shot. There was also some lame music.

Hard Times - 1 push-up and 1 Jack and Coke that Erin made Kit get me. There was also some lame music here, but lots of talking...Many plans for this summer were made.

Then we went home and drank on the roof, gabbed, talked about jumping off the roof (in which Kit used his beer to measure the distance and gravity), and watched some of Jumanji. I ripped my new pants. Then Blake and Jeremy went home and we got ready for bed.

This is when it gets kinda mushy. Since Kit and I both ended up in the bathroom tossing our burgers into the toilet, we had a real bonding moment.

This morning, nobody really wanted to move and it was hotter than hell in Erin's room. Although, at first I really thought I'd gotten away with my night of debauchery (well, since there was no wenching or gaming, it prolly wasn't REALLY debauchery, but it's such a fun word), after all, Erin says I tossed my burger 7 times. There couldn't have been anything left. However, we all were lazed the morning away since we fell asleep AGAIN.

But DAMN that was fun.

Kit is an old man and can't drink like that, and I don't like throwing up, so when we do it again, we might want to be a little less enthusiastic. LOL.

Rockin' the Lake Country

Well, I'm up here in Bemidji listening to...Romstien(?) and sadly enough I know who they are. Erin says she's proud of me. I know. I have the strangest musical tastes ever.

Last night we ate at T.Juan's and then helped Ashley's sister pick out a prom dress at the mall. I was horribly bad and bought a halter and a pair of green cargos (but the pants were 25% off!) before coming back to the apartment for some homework.

That went, well, okay. I was all set out to work on my Personality Psych paper that's due on Wednesday, but that didn't happen. I finished my short Outside Activity paper for Ethnic Studies instead.

This morning we went grocery shopping and then just sorta. Well, we've been kinda lazy. Now it's a matter of deciding what to do while we wait for Kit to show up. Maybe some sort of homework will get done. We'll have to see...

Sad Sad GG News

"Gilmore Girls" creator exits in contract discord

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The creator of "Gilmore Girls" will leave the WB comedy-drama at the end of the season after failing to agree on terms for a renewal of her contract.

Amy Sherman-Palladino's exit comes at a crucial time for the acclaimed show, which is set to make the transition to the new CW network for a seventh -- and likely final -- season in the fall. Her husband and fellow executive producer, Daniel Palladino, will also depart.

Sources indicated that producer Warner Bros. Television offered the pair a total of almost $5 million for their services on the show next season and a production deal. It is understood that they insisted on a two-year pact, while Warner Bros. would not commit beyond the upcoming 2006-07 season since it doesn't have deals with the CW or the cast for an eighth season.

In addition to setting the tone for the mother-daughter series starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, the Palladinos were the main writing force on the show. Between the two of them, they penned about 90 of the show's 132 episodes.

"Despite our best efforts to return and ensure the future of 'Gilmore Girls' for years to come, we were unable to reach an agreement with the studio and are therefore leaving when our contracts expire at the end of this season," they said Thursday.

"Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing cast, hardworking crew and loyal fans. We know that the story lines from this season will continue into the next and that the integrity of the show will remain long after we leave Stars Hollow."

"Gilmore" executive producer David S. Rosenthal has been hired to run the series next year. He joined "Gilmore" at the beginning of this season after working on such shows as "Ellen," which he co-created, and "Spin City."

"While we are disappointed that Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino have decided not to stay with the show next season, we are very confident that Dave Rosenthal, an experienced writer/producer with the show, will make the transition seamless moving into the seventh year of 'Gilmore Girls,"' Warner Bros. and CW said in a joint statement. "We want to thank Amy for creating and nurturing this wonderful series for the past six years and giving us one of the most memorable mother/daughter relationships in television history."

Eye Witness to Me "Getting Some"

Tosh watched me accidentally slam the hallway door into some poor guy carrying a laundry basket to use our laundry room.

Hum. The boys have this cute stackable down stairs...I wonder if somebody was using it or if it's out of order.

Anyhow, I got some!

Today's Quote

"Pirates aren't Stanta, Zach, they did exist." -Dr. Jack Hodgins, Bones

Hot Damn There's a GG Wedding Tonight!

I Get A Sidekick Out of You

On the night before Lane (Keiko Agena) and Zach (guest star Todd Lowe) get married, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) plans for a bachelorette party go awry, as do the plans made by Zach's buddies, so the two groups end up together for a makeshift party in a vacant parking lot. Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda) informs Lorelai that she cannot attend Lane's wedding without an escort. Since Luke (Scott Patterson) is still out of town, Lorelai invites Christopher (David Sutcliffe) to be her date. Everyone attends two wedding ceremonies-one Buddhist and one Seventh Day Adventist-followed by a wild wedding reception in the town square. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star.

Ya Lazy Slug

So after I got back from the library last night and ate supper, I couldn't get back in that industrious mood from the morning. Instead I laid in bed and read Underfoot by Leanne Banks, which is the second in her Bellagio, Inc. series. Cute, fun, shoes. I tell ya.
