Last night I didn't start on my homework until after 8, and then I only worked on my personality psych paper until 10:30. It's not finished, but I've got a good 400 and change words written. I've got the rest of it outlined, so I'm hoping that it's enough to make the parameters and can easily be finished up tonight.
After that, I started reading The Penalty Box by Deirdre Martin. It was cute and kind of funny. I don't know what it is with me and hockey player books lately but that seems to be the theme. Maybe it's some latent feelings left from that crush I had on Ben Paulson in middle school.

GG Test Run
Super Cool Party People
Luke (Scott Patterson) decides to give April (Vanessa Marano) a birthday party at the diner. Lorelai (Lauren Graham) volunteers to help, and is hurt when Luke explains that he still thinks it's too soon for April and Lorelai to meet. However, Luke changes his mind when the party is a disaster, giving Lorelai a chance to bond with April while turning the party into a huge success. Meanwhile, Rory (Alexis Bledel) rushes to be with Logan (Matt Czuchry) at the hospital after he is seriously injured during a stunt with the Life and Death Brigade. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star.
The episode was written by David Rosenthal and directed by Ken Whittingham.
***David Rosenthal is the guy who's being groomed to take over for Amy and Daniel, so I'm hoping this episode is good. I'm sure he's written some other episodes for the show, but this is the first one airing since the announcement of the split.

Up to Bemidji and Down to No Good
Okay, I know that's a total rip off of Sugarland's single "Down in Mississippi" but I think it truly applies here. I'm not sure how badly the "asses and elbows" were flying, but other things truly were.
When Kit showed up Saturday we kinda hung out gabbing for awhile then we went to the liquor store where Erin played momma duck and I finally bought some Smirnoff. Then we sat on the roof talking some more until it was decided that we were going to 209 to have burgers and dinner. This is where Blake met up with us, and the idea for the pub crawl came into play.
Saturday Night Itinerary:
209 - Burgers, beer
U Bar - 2.5 vodka crans and lots of Big Buck Hunter. The boys played bubble hockey and Jeremy showed up.
Bridget's Cross - 1.5 Tequila Sunrise and a Chocolate Cake shot. There was also some lame music.
Hard Times - 1 push-up and 1 Jack and Coke that Erin made Kit get me. There was also some lame music here, but lots of talking...Many plans for this summer were made.
Then we went home and drank on the roof, gabbed, talked about jumping off the roof (in which Kit used his beer to measure the distance and gravity), and watched some of Jumanji. I ripped my new pants. Then Blake and Jeremy went home and we got ready for bed.
This is when it gets kinda mushy. Since Kit and I both ended up in the bathroom tossing our burgers into the toilet, we had a real bonding moment.
This morning, nobody really wanted to move and it was hotter than hell in Erin's room. Although, at first I really thought I'd gotten away with my night of debauchery (well, since there was no wenching or gaming, it prolly wasn't REALLY debauchery, but it's such a fun word), after all, Erin says I tossed my burger 7 times. There couldn't have been anything left. However, we all were lazed the morning away since we fell asleep AGAIN.
But DAMN that was fun.
Kit is an old man and can't drink like that, and I don't like throwing up, so when we do it again, we might want to be a little less enthusiastic. LOL.

Rockin' the Lake Country
Well, I'm up here in Bemidji listening to...Romstien(?) and sadly enough I know who they are. Erin says she's proud of me. I know. I have the strangest musical tastes ever.
Last night we ate at T.Juan's and then helped Ashley's sister pick out a prom dress at the mall. I was horribly bad and bought a halter and a pair of green cargos (but the pants were 25% off!) before coming back to the apartment for some homework.
That went, well, okay. I was all set out to work on my Personality Psych paper that's due on Wednesday, but that didn't happen. I finished my short Outside Activity paper for Ethnic Studies instead.
This morning we went grocery shopping and then just sorta. Well, we've been kinda lazy. Now it's a matter of deciding what to do while we wait for Kit to show up. Maybe some sort of homework will get done. We'll have to see...

Sad Sad GG News
"Gilmore Girls" creator exits in contract discord
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - The creator of "Gilmore Girls" will leave the WB comedy-drama at the end of the season after failing to agree on terms for a renewal of her contract.
Amy Sherman-Palladino's exit comes at a crucial time for the acclaimed show, which is set to make the transition to the new CW network for a seventh -- and likely final -- season in the fall. Her husband and fellow executive producer, Daniel Palladino, will also depart.
Sources indicated that producer Warner Bros. Television offered the pair a total of almost $5 million for their services on the show next season and a production deal. It is understood that they insisted on a two-year pact, while Warner Bros. would not commit beyond the upcoming 2006-07 season since it doesn't have deals with the CW or the cast for an eighth season.
In addition to setting the tone for the mother-daughter series starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, the Palladinos were the main writing force on the show. Between the two of them, they penned about 90 of the show's 132 episodes.
"Despite our best efforts to return and ensure the future of 'Gilmore Girls' for years to come, we were unable to reach an agreement with the studio and are therefore leaving when our contracts expire at the end of this season," they said Thursday.
"Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing cast, hardworking crew and loyal fans. We know that the story lines from this season will continue into the next and that the integrity of the show will remain long after we leave Stars Hollow."
"Gilmore" executive producer David S. Rosenthal has been hired to run the series next year. He joined "Gilmore" at the beginning of this season after working on such shows as "Ellen," which he co-created, and "Spin City."
"While we are disappointed that Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino have decided not to stay with the show next season, we are very confident that Dave Rosenthal, an experienced writer/producer with the show, will make the transition seamless moving into the seventh year of 'Gilmore Girls,"' Warner Bros. and CW said in a joint statement. "We want to thank Amy for creating and nurturing this wonderful series for the past six years and giving us one of the most memorable mother/daughter relationships in television history."

Eye Witness to Me "Getting Some"
Tosh watched me accidentally slam the hallway door into some poor guy carrying a laundry basket to use our laundry room.
Hum. The boys have this cute stackable down stairs...I wonder if somebody was using it or if it's out of order.
Anyhow, I got some!

Hot Damn There's a GG Wedding Tonight!
I Get A Sidekick Out of You
On the night before Lane (Keiko Agena) and Zach (guest star Todd Lowe) get married, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory's (Alexis Bledel) plans for a bachelorette party go awry, as do the plans made by Zach's buddies, so the two groups end up together for a makeshift party in a vacant parking lot. Mrs. Kim (Emily Kuroda) informs Lorelai that she cannot attend Lane's wedding without an escort. Since Luke (Scott Patterson) is still out of town, Lorelai invites Christopher (David Sutcliffe) to be her date. Everyone attends two wedding ceremonies-one Buddhist and one Seventh Day Adventist-followed by a wild wedding reception in the town square. Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star.

Ya Lazy Slug
So after I got back from the library last night and ate supper, I couldn't get back in that industrious mood from the morning. Instead I laid in bed and read Underfoot by Leanne Banks, which is the second in her Bellagio, Inc. series. Cute, fun, shoes. I tell ya.

Midji! Dude!
I'm way excited about my upcoming sojourn to Bemidji for some R&R and paper writing time (3 due next week. Eeek!). I can't wait. We'll prolly eat pizza, and gossip, and slack, and then complain about every five words that I actually write. Ah, the anticipation.
Hit By the Cradle
Today when I went for my walk to the public library, there were two boys skateboarding in front of my apartment building. My guess would be 8 and 12. And they wolf whistled me.
Now I haven't cracked anybody with a door lately, so that makes me both dorky and desperate, but I do have SOME standards. . . And a height requirement.

We've Got A Winner
This weekend, aside from partying, doing the solo gig since the roomies all went home for the holidays, and homework, I managed to read Sofie Metropolis by Tori Carrington (Aka Lori and Tony Karayianni) who has written loads of Harlequin books.
This book was absolutely zany. Sofie is a good-ish Greek girl (imagine Nia Vardalos character from My Big Fat Greek Wedding) who has annoyed her parents by taking a job with her Uncle Spyros's P.I. firm. Throw in a few cases like missing pets, missing "vampire" neighbors, a not so run-of-the-mill cheating spouse, and this totally hot Australian guy that keeps popping up in the strangest places. And as an added bonus, there's recipes in the back. I'm already looking forward to the next Sofie Metropolis book.

Two Weeks
The countdown has commenced as to when all my Death and Dying work is due. Lucky for me, nobody is around Easter weekend and I got half way through chapter 7 this weekend. That's only 8 to go and 6 papers in two weeks.
Totally doable.
Totally doable.
The Wrong Side of The Morning
Saturday I saw the wrong side of the morning (Love you Anna!) and today I saw BOTH sides of the morning, which is something I'm starting to see way too much. However, I got a lot of things accomplished this morning, not everything I wanted to, or should have for that matter, but still shit got done.
Read assigned poems for English class today
Cleaned off Desk (and found some bills I forgot to pay)
Started researching Scottish death, funeral, burial, and mourning customs (Tiff can be expecting an e-mail from by Thursday I'm thinking, tomorrow if I don't forget)
Emptied the dishwasher, cleaned dishes off the counter, washed pans, and rinsed out sinks
Straightened up the bathroom (cleaning may commence in there tomorrow morning. It needs it. Badly. )
E-mailed AEO induction plans to the other officers for feedback
Doesn't that look all action packed?

To My Very Own Goth Girl
Was reading about angst in my personality psych book and though of you. (Or it could have been because we'd been on the phone a little while earlier.)

Happy Easter!
I did some Easter Egg coloring today, and let me tell you...they look so damn cute! I bought all the fixens for Deviled Eggs, so of course I've gotta make them, but I'm almost afraid because I love them so much they'll be eaten all at once. I guess I'm just going to have to do it a couple of eggs at a time. LOL.
I Have a Dress!
On friday, Anne had me try on a dress one of the other ladies had picked out. Apparently, she wasn't happy with the fit and chose to make her own dress.
So my dress is this sort of olive green/brown color with dark navy/black flowers on it. It'll look cute with my grey apron and white with black fleu-de-lis bonnet.
Now all I need is some pantaloons, a chemise, and to fix my peticoat so the buttons work. Yippie!

The Destress System
Anna called me to ask a question on her way to pick up summer job applications and we chatted, and I complained about the damned government taking land and building crap "for the betterment of the community" in people's backyards, and we shared how insane crazy are schedules are for the rest of the semester. I feel much better now. No more mushy brains.
I Hate Bureaucratic Systems. Down With the Red Tape.
My bubble got busted last night when I realized that I needed signatures on my student teaching application that I don't already have. It's due today so of course right now I'm going spastic instead of calming down and dealing with it. Gah! I'm such a freak!

I'm Not Dead
I promise I'm alive and...well, kicking I suppose. I've got a list of things to blog about, but I'm so tired right now and I've got so much stuff to get completed tomorrow. So I'm aiming for a catch up session tomorrow night.
Ciao!

I Do What Where?
The Event Director shall:
Organize events agreed upon by the board of officers. This shall include, but not be limited to, non-member advertising, arrangement with the university administration for the use of rooms and supplies, and organization of refreshments.
So this means that if we don't do events I don't have to do anything. LOL. I'll find out more on Tuesday...AFTER my Social Psych test.

Ten-Hut
Today at what I will now call Interpreter Bootcamp (mainly because I get to miss out on it because of class and I have to make it up all by my lonesome later) I finally got my station assignment....I'm in the garden.
*Holds hand up*
I know what you're thinking. Lisa? Garden? Have you seen her house plants? Yes. That's what I'm thinking too. Although, today we planted in the hotbeds and I did okay. I even learned what beet seeds look like. 'Sides. It's not like I hate plants. I've just never been really good with them. And right now I'm more freaked that I have no idea what the heck really goes on with plants. I mean, maybe I'm really stupid and there's some sort of special mojo that everyone does behind the scenes that I don't know about.
But I will perservere. After all, I get to spend my time this summer outside in a funny looking dress. How 'bout you?

Strange Sightings
I saw a guy on the way to class today with a handle bar mustache that had those really colorful pony beads beaded onto the ends.
I also saw Greg. He's got his hair cut short and was clean shaven. I guess that means that the shaggy, moppy, California boy look is out. I hope nobody else pays attention to him. I like that look. Men look nummy that way.

Procrastination. That's What Happens. (Sung To the Tune of the Seseme Street Cooperation Song)
The plan was to work on my ELL FLClass Reflection paper. Instead, I've caught up on my email.
I hope I have better self control tonight or else I won't be able to eat, dress, or hang out in semi-polite company.

Welcome to my Semi-Adult Life: Sleeping and Studying
Once again, when I find the time to blog, it's five seconds before I have to run out the door.
Alas, I was planning on getting up this morning and blogging, doing homework, and getting my laundry started. But Mom and Dad called last night and after chatting with my mom for forty minutes I started yakking at my Dad. We got off the phone at about midnight, then I finished the chapter I had been reading prior and went to bed.
This morning I slept in until 8, and then went to work reading Neither Wolf Nor Dog since my Letter assignment on that is due next week. I have SO much homework and other stuff to get done I'm not going to bore you with the details.
Gah. No wonder everyone says kids got it easy. You don't stress out as much then.

Me Tired
But I have lots do say, do, and catch everyone up on.
I know it seems like I've been slacking lately. I haven't. I've just been REALLY busy. I guess that's what happens when spring comes and you can no longer convince yourself that it's too dark out to exercise. LOL.
Promise.
Catchups tomorrow.

Tonight was fun for the most part. I liked catching up with old friends and uh...well...other people I know.

My Other Favorite TV Show
Is Bones which is on the Fox network and stars one of my all time favorite bad boys...Angel! That's right. That sexy man himself David Boreanaz.
It's about this really beautiful, brainy, and witty forensic anthropologist who consults on FBI cases. It's got action, science, fun dialogue, humor, Hot Sexy Man, and fun heroine.
I don't know what else to say about it without gushing except that it's better than CSI or L&O incarnation. And Eliza would SO dig it. Heh, heh, heh.

Major Dork Points Here.
I am such a dork.
And I admit it which is probably really bad. This morning I planned on doing very boring but normal Lisa things: homework, check e-mail, read for class, pay bills. You know, the sorts of things people do while they're preparing to go to work on that crazy day of the week she calls Wednesday.
That did not happen.
In the middle of preparing my moring toast, the History Channel Benjamin Franklin show gave way to First Invasion: The War of 1812. I stopped in my tracks and dropped my butt right back on that couch. That's right. I spent those two glorious hours that should have been catching up on my Death and Dying reading watching reproduction actors, authors, and historians gape mouthed as I hummed Johnny Horton's "Battle of New Orleans" in my head.
So now I have that much more homework to do...but I can definately say that the actors paided to defend New Orleans were one HOT bunch. LOL.

Tristan Prettyman - Twentythree
I first heard of Tristan Prettyman in a newspaper album review and realized that I may or maynot dig her stuff, but it was something to give a listen to.
After giving Twentythree a listen. I can confirm that she's not that bad. I know. Weak praise. But all the tracks are of the laidback/melodic singer/songwriter schtick. There are some fabulous tunes there, but nothing to dance to or sing along with. I used it as background music for my homework reading.
My favorite track was "Shy That Way" her colaboration with Jason Mraz. I could totally see this used on a movie or TV soundtrack, and is the track I'd most likely download. Other contenders would include "The Story" and "Simple As It Should Be" for their lyrical content. I also enjoyed the single "love love love" and the track titled "Breathe" but I'm not sure I'd want to plunk a chunk of change down for it.

Fall Schedule Freak Out
So I have my list of classes that I need to take all figured out (Thanks Graduation Aplication I haven't handed in yet) however, two of my classes that I need to take conflict with each other and I just figured this out this morning (Thanks Online fall schedule). Now I get to do some running between the two departments to get things figured out.
Listen hard for my yip of glee.
It's coming.
I promise.
Forty years from now maybe.

Brain Crash
I've got a gigantic list of things I need to do, should do, should really already have done, would like to do so they're out of the way, don't want to do but have to do, don't have to do but want to do, and things that are so easy to put off that I prolly will put off but really shouldn't because they needed to be done weeks ago.
And this is why my brain hurts.
And this is why my brain hurts.
Just A Bill
Leanne is an awsome friend who hooked a sister up with the "I'm Just A Bill" cilp from Schoolhouse Rock. Go check out my Myspace page. (You can find my profile off of Tosh's Myspace link on her blog.)
Anybody with Windows Experience?
Does anybody have a guess of how to clean up my hard disk? Because when I run it like it should be done, it just sits there with three little bars lit up for hours on end and gets really hot.
Why Do People Lock Laundry Rooms?
Just wondering.
Lumley had to come unlock my laundry room on saturday so I had clothes to wear that night. I was out of pants, bras, and underwear. Does anybody else have these problems or am I the only one who seems to get into this sort of crap?

Saturday Night (Better Late Than Never)
I've been so completely lazy the last few days you're so lucky I've behooved my self to start this writing. On Sunday I turned my computer on to check the TV schedule and then I shut it off. That's how lazy I've been. Oh. And I'm not sick anymore, but I still skipped my two o'clock yesterday so I'm using last week's illness as an excuse. Ha.
Anyhow, Saturday Night was a blast. We has some slammin' Hank and Johnny covers over at the Rox. Then we partied it up over at the Carpet. Ran into Brittany, Kelly, and company. Danced it up. Created a ruckus, then came home only to yap at each other till the wee hours of the morning. I slept through my alarm. Then slept through my breakfast. Then slept through my homework. Then was lazy all day Monday. So for me, today is the first day of the week.

The Human Condition
What is up with the phrase "The Human Condition"? It makes it sound like all of humanity has a disease...Humanism.
I mean, we're all human. Homosapieans. Well, except for Wolverine who's a Homo Superior and Alf who's from outer space. Otherwise, we're all people.
All humans.
The only disease we're really suffering from is boredom, stupidity, and well, SOME people are suffering from disease, and it's all really sad.
But I'm not suffering from a "human condiditon." I mean. If I was say a goat that thought I was J. Timberlake or something. I could see some sort of argument for the "human condition." I mean, I know chicks that think they're pigs, bulls that think they're dogs, a specific dog that think's it's okay to be anorexic/bulimic and then roll in cow shit.
But please people. Lay off on "The Human Condition."
It's a stupid phrase that's going to make me crack homoerectus jokes from now on.

I am unwritten
Can't read my mind
I'm undefined
I'm just beginning
The pen's in my hand
Ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else can
Speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
I break tradition
Sometimes my tries
Are outside the lines
We've been conditioned
To not make mistakes
But I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you cannot find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it

I've been a Craig Morgan fan since "Something to Write Home About" so his success with "Redneck yacht Club" just makes me feel so happy for him. But this, this makes me like him all the more:
Don't Start Any Crap With Craig Morgan
In Jacksonville, Fla., Craig Morgan was performing before 12,000 fans when a fight broke out. Trying to calm things down, he informed the offenders, "Hey, I didn't come to Jacksonville to fight."
Things got a little more tense when a second altercation broke out in front of the stage near where two small girls were sitting on the front row. A former Army paratrooper who's as tough as nails, Morgan stepped one foot on the stage and the other on the barricade and grabbed the big troublemaker by the back of his neck. Words were exchanged, but it got quiet after Morgan shouted, "You don't want me to come off this stage!" Security escorted the brawlers from the building, and they're now under a two-year restraining order from the venue.

It Made A Funny
Blogger's spell check response to "Jessica" is "cheesecake."
That's really funny since I was refering to the newly Ms. Simpson.
That's really funny since I was refering to the newly Ms. Simpson.
Out Of The Shadows
I know Ashlee Simpson has gotten a lot of flack about her singing since the infamous SNL incident, but Jessica's edgier sister has a lot of appeal and one wicked set of pipes.
I Am Me is her sophomore effort and you can really see Ashlee's evolution into an artist. Or maybe I just really dig the sing along pop rock feel to songs like "Dancing Alone" and the title cut.
It doesn't really matter that "Boyfriend" could be a clue into the Lindsey Lohan catfight rumors or that "Say Goodbye" might be a direct result to the craziness that was her courtship with the every spiky Ryan Cabrerra. Ashlee uses vivid imagery in her lyrics, catchy fun beats, and pushes her smoky vocals.
While a few of the tracks seem to be the typical party filler them music ("Dancing Alone" "Burnin' Up"), the rest of the album is filled with uncertainty ("Catch Me When I Fall"), loss, self-identity ("I Am Me"), and a bit of idiocy (or guilt. "Coming Back For More") Isn't that how we feel when we know we're doing something that's bad for us?
Perhaps the most annoying track on the album for most people (prolly I Am Me's equivalent to "LaLa") "L.O.V.E" is my favorite, if unexpectedly so, track.

Something Wicked This Way Comes
I don't know what it is about vampire romances that I enjoy. It's either the blood, the heat, the mysticism, or perhaps not matter what I do, all the heros end up looking like Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned or Brad Pitt in Interview With a Vampire.
Anyhow I gave Susan Sizemore's Master of Darkness a spin and was thourally pleased. Action, Romance, and I ended up with a major crush on the werewolf support character instead of the hero. How much better does it get than that?
Sides, if I need to Christian can build me a lego gun to protect myself. LOL.

Here's Your Sign
I figured out the problem with my apartment phone. Somebody had turned the handset ringer off.
Come to Girls Night and You'll See What I Mean
Ro-ight (As Anna would say).
Now as Toshia and Erin are telling me that I'm going to be writing lies (well, at least Erin says so) I will only go for the highlights for now.
Like Trever, the PR guy who drives a Saturn, and his friend John who drink. A lot. And make excuses for insidious things (or potentially pervy things) like "accidentally" spilling his drink on Erin.
Toshia unplugged my alarm clock...And she's the one who needs it for her test tomorrow.
I had a talk with Kit the whole way back to the apartment where I accidentally ran Erin into a bush.
Krystle gets loud, physical, and REALLY funny when she's drunk. Her and Erin made fast friends. And popcorn doesn't go with vodka/cran.
Erin not only drooled on me at Perkin's, but also on our French fries and the last cheese stick.
There's also a certain fascination with The Press's bathroom walls.
Me, Tosh, and Krystle are planning on heading up to Burrrmidji next weekend. So I guess until then (or until later today when tonight gets rehashed again and again)...Vive Cuervo!!!

Ah, The Dreams I Dream
Toshia already complained that I have better/funner dreams than she does. Well, riddle me this Batman:
Me and Anna are hang out in the basement of Atwood by vending machines and bathrooms eating cinimini's from Einstine Bros Bagels and getting hit on by a bunch of guys who are throwing hairpins at us. Then we go back to the apartment only to be woken up by the alarm clock at 6:11 in the morning which is playing a music video of Toby Keith that stars Bo Derek and Willie Nelson dancing. Then, Anna detaches her phone from the wall when it starts clucking. This is when my REAL alarmclock goes off playing Josh Turner's "Your Man" (but not the video, just the audio. I'm not that high tech.)

A Little Late to be Cool, But...
Since I just found my little post-it that Tosh left me with my squirrel name, it's Countess Nibbles his Nuts if anyone is interested.
Woo-Woo
My 2:00 class got canceled today!!! However, we're still having the mid-term on Wednesday. which SUCKS!
Oh The Life of a Photog
If you've ever wanted to look up Keith Urban's nose, fall into Julie Robert's cleaveage, check out SHEdaisy's hip bones, Teri Clark's armpit, or Daryl Worley's behind head over to K102's website and click on Artist Photos. There's some interesting things there. A bunch of glossy shots, performance shots, red carpet, award show, and a just plain eclectic bunch in no particular order. Enough to make you crack up.
I Keep A Calling...
I think there's something wrong with my regular phone. I haven't used it for awhile, but Becky keeps claiming that she's been calling it. And today when I checked my messages, the phone cut out like it needed to be charged when in reality, that's all it's been doing for weeks on end.
I Stand Corrected.
The GG episode this week is the one where Rory comes back home. And what a quwinky-dink, Erin is talking about driving down here tomorrow night too!
I Know This Will Piss Anna Off To No End, But She's My Friend So She'll Respect My Opinion
Abortion is a touchy subject. And today I was reading an editorial in the paper that just rubbed me raw.
Do I believe that life begins at conception? Absolutely. Do I believe that that life is realized at conception? No. Sometimes God, that life, or a woman's body realizes that it will not survive, or it is not meant to be and the woman miscarries, which is called spontaneous abortion. And sometimes, that woman, with or maybe without God's input decides that the best thing she can do is abort that life. I do not in any way believe that it is a light or easy decision to make.
I do believe that abortion is a woman's choice. I do NOT believe that an institution has the right to tell me as a woman what I am allowed to do with my body, and any progeny I may eventually provide if they have no qualms about keeping certain groups of people, including women, oppressed in this country. I feel the same way towards abortion as I do towards the Patriot Act. If they are going to take this right to myself and my body away from me now, what rights will be taken away from me next? The right to have a profession? To have Land? To vote? To color my hair? Whom or when I'm allowed to marry?
My next point of contention is simple. I have seen friends and family go through teenage pregnancy. And it's a difficult journey. But lucky for them, they HAD friends and family to trust to help them through it. Some other girls do not have that luck. I would rather they have clean clinics and staff that can council them into good and healthy decisions than resorting to (ever see Dirty Dancing?) a "guy with a dirty knife and a folding table." We need things like comprehensive sex education in schools, decision training for young people, and to be open to discussing problems with our youth, not deciding things for them.
Making abortion illegal isn't going to stop abortion from happening. All it is going to do is put bodies, people, and rights at risk. Abortion is not the problem. It is the results of a deeper problem in our society.
My position is NOT that abortion is wonderful and we should all suscribe to it. I'm not saying the thought of abortion makes me do cartwheels and break out into a song and dance groove. It is something that cannot be stopped by something so ineffectual as a law.

Good News.
I don't have my last class Wednesday night, so having to leave a bit early isn't a problem. I knew this ahead of time, but forgot when we were discussing it.
Reality Check
Geez. There's nothing like making the blog rounds to get you depressed. Wow. Holy Crap. I was just going to blog and complain because of the snow and how I have mid-terms today that I wouldn't mind canceled, but ya'll just wrecked my pitiful whining with that deep and heavy stuff.

Some CMT.com Updates
Dierks's new video for Settle for a Slowdown is up. And he's wet in it.
On the Listening Party page you can check out new albums by some of my favorites and some pretty wicked new comers like Shooter Jennings and Trent Tomlinson (Drunker Than Me).
Plus Pinmonkey (Barbedwire and Roses. Also Chad, who's in Keith's roadband used to be a member) has some 330 session stuff up.

Out of Body Ticket Buying Experience
This morning I was trying to get tickets to see Trent Wilmon on Wednesday for Tosh, Tiffy, and myself. After half an hour of dial, hang up, and redial. I answered the person who answered the phone on autopilot and when I hung up, had no idea what I'd just done.
So this afternoon, I called the station and told a white lie so they'd review my ticket info. I now have three tickets waiting for us Wednesday. But the funny part was the DJ and I were just yakking back and forth. Then he put me on hold while he introduced Joe Nichol's "tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off" before talking to me some more. After like five more minutes, he said he'd better hang up or he'd get in trouble.
What a bunch of goofs they've got working there. On Thursday when I called to request that Blake song, Jake told me he loved me. lol.

The Great Shoe Crisis of '06
Yesterday Leanne called me to do lunch on her way through town. I was totally ecstatic because I haven't seen Leo since by birthday and she's like one of my little sisters and a really close friend (okay. That sounds weird. Let's just leave it at she's practically one of the family.). So I had to dress for lunch at Chipotle AND my job interview. This was all fine and dandy until I got to my shoes.
I don't have any closed toed dress shoes that don't have three inch heels and are black. Nope. I had hooker heels to wear to my job interview. So I had to make an emergency trip to Wal-mart to buy new shoes. And God must have been listening to me because I bought my emergency interview shoes for $10. How wicked is that?

Summer Job Fever
I got an interview with the people at Kelley Farm on Friday. I should find out if I got the job next week some time. Wish me luck!
Spring Break @ Some Beach
Thursday was the Blake Shelton concert at GCH. It was a total blast (see I can use other adjectives besides awesome!). Me, Tosh, and Anna met Sandy, Bob, and the boys at the Buffet and gabbed before hand. I also proved that I can carry a baby while dishing up my plate, except when it comes to sour cream.
Blake was amazing. I screamed and sang and seat danced. I really hope my pictures turn out (I should go get those developed while I'm at the grocery store). There was this woman in front of us that kept standing up, dancing, and waving her arms in the air everytime Blake ventured on our side of the stage, so I'm not entirely sure about my pictures. Plus it was me taking them. With MY camera. So who knows.
Me and Anna both got concert shirts, and then on the way home we dialed into to Wild 99 and requested more Blake. We wanted "Playboys of the Southwestern World" (the Hey Romeo! song) but they didn't have it so we got "Ol' Red" instead. Anyhow, I was so hyped up from the concert and stuff that I used the word awesome a little too much for Toshia's taste. She thinks I sounded like an idiot. I'd like to see her do some improv. They told us the song would be on about 9:45 so I was told to drive the speed limit so we'd still be in the car to hear it, but after I had a semi pass me, I was back to speeding again because that's just pathetic.

The Reason It's Called a Greasy Spoon
Yesterday at work, I put this hamburger on because I was making an order for a cheeseburger and fries. When I went to flip the burger over, it flipped over, and then over again off ther hamburger grill and into the grease collector. Since the burger was already half done, I grabbed a fork and plucked it out, then ran some hot water over it to get most of the grease off then plopped it back on the grill to finish cooking.
Now this is funny in itself. It got alot funnier when my Dad told me that before he left, the guy who got the burger came up to the counter and said that his Cheeseburger and fries were "Really Good." LOL.

The Crack-up Sisters
Last night me, Krystle, and Amanda were in the kitchen laughing. I don't remember what set us off, but everybody was hunched over, stomachs hurting, tears flowing, laughing. And there were no hallucinogens, narcotics, opiates, or any other sort of mind altering substance involved. I was drinking water and I think Amanda was eating cheese. Or salsa. Or chips. It's hard to know because she was muching on something different every five seconds. But we must have been laughing about something...
Movies!
I'm going to see The New World with Becky tonight. Yippie skippy! It has to do with me putting all my packing for the weekend off. Because there's so much. At least I know when I'm wondering around the apartment at 2o'clock I'll have plenty of company from the crack-up sisters from last night.
This Morning
It snowed last night. And along with that freaky bit of nature, when I actually got up for work at the buttcrack of dawn, I was wired.
I SANG on the way to work (Where incidentally I saw Anthony, who didn't seem to notice my singing. I wonder if he was too tired?).

The ladies over at Squawk Radio came up with Horiscopes for March. Here's mine:
CAPRICORN (December 22-January 20)
Hang on to your youth! Keep him locked in a closet.
...Now just which youth should I choose. I've never been too much into younger guys...except that Steven Strait guy from last weekend in Sky High. Does that mean I get to claim him?

Way To Go Mel.
| You Are a Chick Rocker! |
Well, I've Already Spent My Paycheck.
That's right.
Went to Target with Tosh and picked up Walk the Line, Pride and Prejudice, and Lady and the Tramp along with pizza and apple juice for our slumber party, floss, and razor blades.

A Lesson in Social Psych
The "Who Am I" test was developed by McGuire to determine a person's spontaneous self-concept. Go ahead and number a paper one to twenty and commence writing descriptive sentences beginning with "I am..."
1. I am white.
2. I am the oldest of four girls.
3. I am sorta tall.
4. I am very loud.
5. I am kind of bossy sometimes, but call it leadership.
6. I am really freaked out about graduating next year.
7. I am really sick of living with Hiley.
8. I am out of milk at home.
9. I am not an organized person.
10. I am such a klutz.
11. I am going to NoDak this weekend to see my parents.
12. I am a Minnesotian, not a NoDaker.
13. I am getting paid on Friday.
14. I am out of clean pants.
15. I am really friendly, especially when I'm with others.
16. I am a woman.
17. I am in need of new tennis shoes.
18. I am an Urbanite. (as in Keith Urban)
19. I am sick of winter.
20. I am so gonna be broke after shopping today.
Then you have to code your answers:
A-physical/self-description
B-social self
C-psychological/traits/emotions/attitudes
D-Holistic stuff
The real surprise here, is the use of heuristics. Those are kinda like priming tools. They give you a place to start in your automatic thinking. Almost everything on my list I'd talked to Tosh about just prior to class at lunch. Scary thing that.

The Reason I Blog About Stupid Things Like Who I Think Is Hot and Keith's Latest Accomplishments
Is because when you start clicking through blogs you end up reading the CRAP other people think is absolutely wonderful to discuss like politics (one gigantic fight. I'm a liberal. Deal with it. Anna and I get along just peachy even though we support politicians with conflicting agendas. Why can't you?). After all that continued flipping and arguing. I'd think it must be nice to land on somebody's blog that goes on and on about Keith Urban, or Romance novels, or some stupid and idiotic thing she just did.
That and everybody lives SO far away and this cuts down on phone time.
Sorry bout that. I just finished reading some stuff by an ignorant asshole who doesn't know how to admit that he's wrong. And instead of just clicking on, I got hooked. Like passerbys at a car wreck. I couldn't stop. So I got worked up and needed to vent. Thank you for letting me vent.

Lisa The Letch
Last night me and Riley ordered some pizza and watched Sky High starring Kurt Russell and Kelly Preston. This adorable movie is about a kid who's the son of two of the world's most famous superheros. This is all good and great, except that Will has yet to actually get his superpowers.
This causes him to join all of his friends as a dreaded Sidekick instead of a genuine Superhero. Involved in the story is also his best friend, his archenemy, the most popular girl in school, and an old enemy of his parents, Commander and Jetstream.
I'd totally give this movie a look-see. It's much more entertaining than the Spy Kids flicks. And, if you're not afraid of labels, there's eye candy.
Ah, the eye candy. That would be Steven Strait who plays Warren Peace. After spending most of the movie going gaga over Peace, I checked him out on IMDB. And that's when I became a very bad person. Cutie Steven here is only 18 (19 in March). So right now the fact that I think he's a total babe is kinda, well, EEEEKG!
But, as I pointed out to Krystle and Riley, when I'm forty, if I dated him, I'd be one sexy and lucky-ass woman. Stupid double standards.

Found Me a Newbie
His name is Eric Church and he's made a lot of waves in Nashville this past week at CRS (that would be the Country Radio Seminar). He's kinda cute and has a sound much like that of Dierks Bentley. Which is a coincidence (or not) since Dierks as well as Keith are his label mates over at Capitol.
You can check out his video for his debut single How 'bout You at his webpage on the Capitol site.

Screw Fat Tuesday
Try expensive Tuesday. Lady and the Tramp, Walk the Line, and Pride and Prejudice are coming out tomorrow. I'm going to be SO broke.
Goin' Downtown
So, Saturday afternoon I was lying around the apartment being as lazy as possible when Anna gave me a call asking me if I wanted to go to Minneapolis with her for Kelly's 21st Birthday party. Since I'm always game for a good time, I said sure.
I tooled down to BL and picked up my mail. Then I watched Forest Gump with her mom and sister while Anna got directions for us. This of course meant I had an enlightening conversation about just what kind of trouble girls my age can get into (wink, wink. nudge, nudge).
So we decided to take Anna's truck and rocketed down to the cities listening to Wild 99's Saturday Dance Ranch show. Only to show up at the hotel and do our own version of the Daytona 500 looking for parking in the parking ramp (that we couldn't get out of because we needed a token).
Kelly's party was at the Embassy Suites, so we headed up the elevator to the rooms after many stops and starts (and some help from some guy on the street), where I met the girls. Some of whom I recognized from State. We got ready, partied it up, danced, whooped, took pictures, and generally started the buzz going.
Then we headed downstairs for the limo. Which wasn't there. So we huddled in the building lobby playing with the revolving door until Tamera and Kelly got our limo driver Nole on the phone.
So we showed up at Spin in a swanked out limo and got the VIP treatment right into the club. Which was an absolute blast. We danced, laughed, talked, shook our asses, and got Mardi Gras beads. I'm not sure who or how, but I ended up with a drink. At one point, Anna, Brittany, and Me got separated from everyone else and we ended up in the swirling mass of gyrating bodies that made up the main dance floor. This was lots of fun, but also a bit of work since the three of us attracted a couple of Indian (dots not feathers as Shauna would say) guys. They were kinda getting friendly (I personally feel that unless I give you express permission, I am the only one who can stick their hands in my pockets. Thank you.) and we had to shake them off. This was accomplished by crossing the entire dance floor. Anna was now on her second drink at the club (a long island) which she promptly dropped on the floor. Glass and all.
Not too much later, we met up with the rest of the girls and trooped outside to await Nole and our chariot. This is when Kel, Anna, Ashley, and all the rest of us girls had a rousing pole dance with the light post to the Pussycat Doll's Don'tcha. Kel, who stole some guys shirt, fell in the street. And Anna was her lovey-dovey self kissing and hugging everybody. Even some girl that was standing next to us calling for a cab. I'm pretty sure Anna simply mistook her for one of the group. I mean there were 11 of us hot sexy babes out on the make.
Nole returned us to the hotel were there was some catching up about what happened at the club, after pictures, and drunken phone calls. Or in my case, a very buzzed phone call to Toshia at like two in the morning.
The next morning, we weren't doing too bad. Just some headaches. And body aches. I'm sure Anna's were worse than mine because she slept on the floor most of the night. Or at least unil I woke up to her slugging me and telling me to scoot over. The hotel served a complimentary breakfast, but the smell of toast permeating the hotel made me want to yak, so we just took off.
The car ride was mostly made up of Anna exclaiming how dirty Minneapolis looked, singing along to the radio, eating breath mints, and taking deep breaths of fresh air. By the time we got back to BL all traces of my hangover were gone. So I stopped at McD's and got a breakfast bagel and made my way back to St. Cloud where I promptly planted my ass on the couch and read for the rest of the day.
Thanks Kel, for letting me show up with Anna. It was a blast.

I Can Be Dark, Damn It!
This morning at work I had the radio tuned into the rock station because, well, I was in that sort of mood. I was tired, cranky, and doing homework. The Hall Director came in, looks at me, and goes, "Isn't this a little dark for you? It's not your usual country."
Well, it was just a little bit of Papa Roach, Nickelback, some AC/DC, Audioslave. I mean I know I'm not as dark as anybody named Manson, the Osbournes, or even Erin. But, Damn it! Somedays I just want to listen to Korn in peace!

My Writing
Remember when I was going on and on about what my professor would say about my writing. Yeah. Either I'm way to hard on myself, or I have NO clue about how talented I really truly am (And that sounds SO completely conceited).
Here are her comments about my paper:
I really donÂt have huge suggestions for your overall argument. This seems to be a thoughtful and thorough essay. You write beautifully. Thus, all my comments are about fairly minor stylistic, grammatical, or formatting changes.
Did you see that? "stylistic," "grammatical," and "formatting" my known weaknesses.

My Five Minutes
This blog entry is going to be my relaxing five minutes devoted all to myself today. This morning started out early...at midnight when me and my roomies decorated the apartment for Hiley's 22nd birthday. We had banners, balloons, and crepe paper. Hopefully tonight we'll dig into that cake.
Then I hit the sack and woke up early to read my ELL chapters. This was quickly followed by some time poking around the BBC Learn English website because I have to evaluate it for a paper that's due at 11pm tonight.
Then I got to run to work and catch up on my Cogewea chapters for English. So right now I'm at the Library hoping I can hammer out the beginning of my ELL paper before I have to hit my bloc of classes today.
I'm going to be SO tired. Isn't it grand that I work at 6 tomorrow morning?

Good Times
I finished my paper and begged Leanne to proof it for me (Thanks Girl!) while me and the girls went on a Perkin's run. Mmmm. I had some DEE-Lish Lemmon pie and I've got leftovers for tomorrow ("What religion is anti-leftover?"-Marty on GG).
Then we trekked through the snow to the PAC and watched Tyler (Anna's ex not um, well, Tyler) in a dress in Cloud 9, which played with gender roles and sexuality. It was Quite funny. And so was watching all of the Ahem acting. So now I'm thinking of heading back to the apartment for a little bit of school related reading and some shut-eye.

I'm Looking at Page 5
And it isn't pretty. Well, actually, it's got like three words on it. But I need a mental break and NOBODY has blogged anything new since my last mental break.
Now I know why everyone gets on my case when I continuously blog either only in the morning or only at night and not throughout the day. Because DAMN IT, when you want to amuse yourself with the idiot ramblings of some of your closest friends so you don't have to remember that your the MORON that procrastinates so much you're going to FORGET to DIE!

Which Chromosome Do Men Have Again?
This question came up when I was relating all of my new found quirky knowledge to Toshia today. And just where did I get this knowledge that would make most people shoot pop out their nostrils? Why Do Men Have Nipples? by Mark Leyner and Billy Goldberg.
While the commentary and witty banter between the two author's isn't always that funny, the questions are continuously of the "There is no way I'm asking my Doctor that!" sort of questions. From Is sperm fattening? To Why do I have bad Breath in the morning? Every obscure and weird drunken musing is answered.
Sorta.
I have noticed, that some of the answers skirt the question a bit, or don't answer it in a very satisfying way, but you should totally buy this book to sit on your coffee table for when the gang comes over for some "cold ones" because it's a laugh a minute.

Procrastinated Paper Blues
I am so sick of this paper. I know. Every time I write a paper, I'm sick of it. I think my problem with this one is that I've spent so much time planning it, that now that I've got it almost complete, I'm second guessing myself.
This is not one of my happy papers. It it not one where when I finish I'm going to go: "HA! I Nailed That Bastard!" It's going to be a "Thank GOD this professor doesn't really know how well I write because I'd SO be getting an F." Well, not an F, but a C. As it stands right now, I think it's totally a C paper. SO not what I want to be turning in for this class.
And what am I doing right now? That's right. Putting myself down in my blog instead of going back and hammering out the last two pages I have to write. And the sad part? I know exactly what's wrong and what she's going to tell me. I ended up sort of marrying two of the prompts together, so while my thesis is clear, my argument isn't tight, my support is vague, and my organization is sorta choppy. And am I going to fix this before it get's turned in for feedback? Prolly not. Because I'm a lazy idiot.
Do you think I could talk her into reading my blog and then grading accordingly? Because seriously, as much as I want an A on this paper and this class, I don't think I deserve it right now. But maybe I have too high of expectations for myself. Are my expectations too high? Am I really too harsh with my self? Or am I just really paranoid because we've been talking about self-biases in my Personality Psych class where people are more likely to attribute their success to their talents and blame their failures on the situation.
But here I am explaining how I'm being a procrastination Queen, and how my paper really sucks on my effort. Does that mean I'm the exception and not the rule? Or is my stupid Soc Psych Attribution Error crap coming in now?
OHMIGOD! I'm psychoanalyzing myself. What a freaking FRUIT CAKE!

We've got E. Coli crap in the city water and now that I think about it, I actually did drink water yesterday when I brushed my teeth. If I get diarrhea and die it's St. Cloud's fault.

New Keith clips including practical jokes played on Keith by the band, "We are the Champions," and Keith getting Lei-ed on stage.

GG Canceled for Tomorrow
I guess there's no Gilmore Girls on tomorrow night. They're going to run Final Destination 2 instead. Bummer. I want to know what's going on with Luke and Lor and Rory, Logan, and the rest of the gang. Bah. This hiatus stuff sucks!
My Kind of feminist.
I think I can safely state to you guys that I'm a feminist. In fact, you guys know me so well, that I probably didn't even have to state that much. However, here is something I bet you didn't know...I think most of the feminists from the seventies were looby.
I think some of those vegetarian, hairy legged, egg-heads were totally nuts. And for the most part, I sit in my mind laughing at them in amusement. I mean I totally respect the things they did for womankind. And hey, I love knowing that if I wanted to work a gazillion times harder than I already am, I could be a highly paid astrophysicist and that it's totally because of my bra burning sisters from the seventies...But they're still wacked.
Susan Jane Gilman for the most part agrees with me. It's true that she's clearly got a tighter focus on her views, has stood up in the face of well, life and got her teeth knocked out, but hey. She's also way older than I am. (well, maybe not WAY older.)
I read her Hypocrite in a Poufy White Dress: Growing Up Groovy and Clueless over winter break and about died laughing. I know of no one else who would get a fancy schmancy job in Washington D.C. on The Hill, and then totally confess that on their first day on the job, the only thing they knew about Congress they learned from the School House Rock "I'm Just a Bill" jingle.
Then, for shits and giggles, I put a hold on her book Kiss My Tiara: How to Rule the World as a SmartMouth Goddess. I'm not sure which is funnier: reading her biting social commentary, or listening to her Grandmother's advice about life. I mean, come on! You choose between "Sure, beauty has the power to excite men. But so does a box of donuts" and "If God hadn't wanted us to touch ourselves, he would've made our arms shorter." Like Hello! too much competition. (Hey Mel, read this one too. It's a riot!)
