Now that summer is almost over (it's true! I networked at school open houses last night so I can sub!) I'm admitting to jamming to Sheryl Crow's "Love is Free" from her Detours album all summer.
BTW the album is pretty good. Very social conscious which I expect from Sheryl. I love "Lullaby for Wyatt" and "Out of Our Heads." I also saw some of her clothing line on the Today show awhile back and the jeans are AWESOME!
I know a good time when I see one / And when I'm in the mood I can even be one / I can lead the parade or I can stop it / Sometimes I dance in the boat just to rock it

After the Boxes its Party Time
Busy busy weekend coming up!
Firstly (I love saying that. Even if it's not, well, prolly not, good English and S&SG will make fun of me endlessly for using it) I gots to work. Go me!
Then, Hal the Hail Magnet will be making his way to me for the first time ever. It's like a giant blind date. But I hear he gets good gas mileage, so I suppose I can look over the fact that he was DAMAGED before I've even finished PURCHASING it.
That's followed up with a family reunion. Not just Daddy, lil sis, and me, but the whole paternal side enchilada. Most of whom I haven't seen in a loooong time. Other's it's been a month. So party all around.

We're Number One!
Woot! Well, "You Look Good In My Shirt" just hit #1 on the Country R&R chart. Congrats Keith.

Keith Urban suffers from slipped Disc, but No Shows are Canceled
Hopefully, Keith will take it easy. I can't wait for Fashion Rocks and the NFL kickoff. I'm really hoping I'll be home to watch some football instead of at work. I missed so much of my football last year.

Top 5 Reasons Why Not Having a 9-5 Stinks:
1. People are amazed when you are awake before 10 am.
2. You can't pick up an easy thiry bucks refing a volleyball match because you were scheduled for a wonky 4-8pm work shift.
3. You need to make yourself a To Do list with a time table to make sure everything that needs to get done can happen BEFORE you need to leave for work.
4. Everybody is at work when you call then so you are left leaving insanely long voicemails that become jokes with their co-workers.
5. And finally, while it's okay to eat breakfast at 11am, eating dinner at 3:30 pm is just stupid.

Not Ironic, But Damn Unlucky
I would say that it is quite ironic (dontcha think) that the weekend after I put a down payment on a new-ish car (sight unseen by me but Dad approved. I hear it's purple) and brought it home, it was hailed on. I believe, "attacked by a maniac with a ball peen hammer" was the exact descriptive phrase used. But as everyone has made perfectly clear to Alanis, it is in fact not ironic, but quite a sucky coincidence. Here's hoping the insurance money will help me pay off the rest of my tab.
Woo-Hoo! It's Keith Concert Time.
Well, not exactly. But for your viewing pleasure (or more accurately, MINE) I give you the video for "You Look Good In My Shirt." While the track can be found on his sophmore album Golden Road, YLGIMS has been re-recored and released as a single to support his new concert DVD.

Dragging Plastic Sleds
For the past few weeks, when I stepped on the brakes, my rear brakes would make a noise that sounded a lot like I was dragging a plastic sled across gravel. So I promptly called up my favorite mechanic aka dad, and asked him about it. He would just, "hummmm."
Finally, I just came out and asked him:
"Is it my brake pads?"
"Probably."
"How urgent is it?" (as I look at the bleak endless abyss that is my rising debt and empty checkbook)
"Well, someday you're going to step on the brakes and keep going." (Which pretty much translates to NOW STUPID!)
So I check in with my other favorite mechanic, who's much more of a local. After a nice drive just missing rush hour traffic, being made fun of by guys who know my dad pretty well because I was lucky enough to just pay parts & not labor, and one great big hug, I headed home sans one hub cap that rode in the trunk. (damned fancy hub caps!)
I can now stop in peace.

Better Late...
I know I haven't posted anything at all about this season's Nashville Star contestants. It's not that I'm shunning it. I've just been lazy.
This week Tommy Stanley got booted and my thought was finally. At first he was fine, but I cringed through the entire "Save a Horse" performance and that's when I knew he was short lived.
I was shocked however by the Pearl Heart elimination. The girls perform really well together and have really blossomed under Jeffery Steele's mentorship. I hope good things happen for them.
My favorites are Gabe Garcia and Ashlee Hewitt. Gabe is starting to come out of his shell more, but seriously for me taking on SLY was hard. You know me and my Keith. And I have to admit that it blew me away Ash didn't know "Take the Money and Run." Seriously?!

See How the Garden Grows (and My Pocketbook Doesn't)
I went crazy with the money today, and unfortunately, did NOT make purchases The Cheap Chick would approve of.
It all started with this super cute short sleeved pin stripe jacket that I picked up at the Fashion Bug. It's from Studio 1940 and as you can see, absolutely perfect for summer interviews. It was thirty percent off, plus I got an additional $4 off because of an in store promotion.
That was followed up by an ever expensive trip to Target. I pick up three beautiful planting pots, potting soil, and Fool's Gold staring Kate Hudson and the bongo playing Mr. Sexiest Man Alive himself.
Then of course I had to buy plants to stuff in my planters, and I did well there....except for the $25 Candy Corn vine I bought. But it's super cute, so I really don't care that I spent all that money and don't actually HAVE a place to plant it.

Road Trip!
Yesterday, I had a job interview up north. Way up north. Not quite to Alaska, or Canada even, but it was a good five hour jaunt one way. I'm so lucky my friends love me. Sweet and Sour Goth is such a doll and acted as my co-mapper/deer spotter/water bottle opener/hand me that bag of chips sidekick.
I think the interview went well. The school district is small, almost what you could call tiny, but there are lots of attractive things about it besides it being, you know, a full time job.
The trip up however is VERY LONG. I'm no closer to the 'rents, but I'm not farther away either. There's beautiful scenery up thatta way. Strangely enough, it looks alot like the 'rents' place out in NoDak.
I got my road trip in, even if it wasn't where I was planning on going, or when I was planning on going. Although I got sort of crabby and spacey at the end it was very satisfying. SS&G even made eyes with the Gas Station Hottie.

SSG and Me Loose in "the City"
While me and Becks had out big day out Friday on my day out, Monday afternoon S&SG and me went to see the Sex and the City Movie. While I wouldn't categorize her as a rabid fan, S&SG was super psyched to see it and I, well. I've seen a couple episodes of it on the WB.
I have to say, I found the escapades of Carrie and her girliefriends quite entertaining. Even for a neophyte like myself. Guess I'm going to have to rent all the seasons from the library now.
Also on our outing, I talked S&SG into hitting up Target, and I made out like a bandit. The Cheap Chick would be so proud. All the swag I scored was within the $20 rule. Some highlights include:
*A silver Xhiliration Tee on clearance for $9.08 that will double for both teacher-y things and kicking it with my girliefriends and their beaus.
*Merona Capris on sale for $15 that will once again pull double duty for both work and play.
*A neon yellow C9 sports bra on clearance for 11.88. Wont that look stylin'!

Wild Weekend @ the Bullseye
Sunday started with a cat stuck in our front drain field pipes.
That's right folks. A cat.
No worries though, a guy got him out and he was perfectly fine.
Then half an our later, we went under that tornado warning. Sirens were blaring and guests were complaining because they couldn't leave.
Hello! There's a tornado out there. Obviously the smart thing to do is to leave this giant cinder block shelter and rough it in a tiny plastic car out on the roads were there's zero visibility and a bazillion other yahoos who are waiting to broadside me. Good grief, Charlie Brown.
Then came the hail.
Needless to say, Teddy is now sporting a few more dings. Like he wasn't ghetto enough.

I'm BACK!!!
I know. You've all missed me so much. But not nearly as much as I've missed ya'll. There's nothing like your very own public that is calling for your come back. Hopefully mine will go over a bit better than Britany or Lindsey's.
I'd say a bit like Garth's but the fact that he can't fully commit to career or retirement just annoys the crap out of me. And what was the deal with the Hewy Lewis duet?
Anyhow, I've got multiple ventures in the works, with the most promenent being me trying to find a big girl job. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

This Week's Bones
Ah. I love season premieres. They're so exciting. Even though this season I'm mourning the loss of both Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars, I have Bones to hold me over and just perhaps I might get into Bionic Woman. We'll have to wait and see. If not, Bones and Las Vegas will just have to be good enough.
And what a way to kick off a new season. We've got tension between Booth and Tempie, we've got tension to a strangely lesser degree considering the circumstances between Hodgens and Angela, and we get Zack back.
There's no quote because I can't remember the one I like word for word. This sucks blogging days later.

Things I Miss About College
Having goofy work hours like from 6-9am then 4-5pm.
The amenities in my apartment: dishwasher, stove, $1 laundry machines next door, a roomate that bakes me cookies, cable, free newspapers, high-speed internet
Not having to pick up after myself unless people are over, coming over, or have just left
Having friends next door, across the street, and down the block
Thirsty Thursdays
Not feeling like a freak if I choose to stay up until 4 am or go to bed at 11
Walking to the library
Ah, it's just nostalgia kicking in since I've got dial-up going...it'll stop I'm sure. Maybe, ya know. Once I get a damned job or atleast hear back from one of the trillion places I've applied. School keeps looking better and better even if all I'd be doing is shoving my head in the sand.

What ARR Ya Thinking?
I liked Pirates At Worlds End. I'm not sure that I loved it, but I enjoyed it alot. (Yes, I once again sang the theme music as I floated out of the movie theater) There are a couple of loose threads that need some straightening out, but that I can only do if I watch it again. Somebody has a freebie gift idea...
Whine, Whine, Whine
It is official. I absolutely dispise the paperwork that comes with job hunting...and I hate not having a faster computer. This kitchen stuff is NOT all it's cracked up to be.
