The Once Weekly Report

I know this is still havey-cavey me blogging like this, but I promise I'm going to try and come up with a better solution. Maybe if I get the trailer cleaned up and organized I could actually do this from home once in a while.

Updates:

My car isn't working right. I think it's only running on two cylinders and it's annoying as heck because I move so slow.

I've been working like mad which is cool because I can now do school groups (go me!) and I get to wear my wickedly cool clothes, but I still feel like I'm missing the bandwagon because my gardening knowledge is sort of...Stunted by the childhood memories of weeding as a punishment.

The trailer is wicked hot and technically we still have the furnace running because my grandma is too stubborn to just let me flip the air conditioner on. We don't have the screens up yet either which is driving me bananas something fierce.

My room is still stuffed to the gills with stuff, I don't have clean clothes, and all of my toiletries are still piled in a box on the bathroom counter. Not very conducive to happy living.

I've got some hang-ups about going to San Antonio now because it looks like I'm actually going to be the ADULT in charge of stuff instead of the ADULT that's just along for the ride. Very disappointing and scary.

Ciao.

My First Day Off

I "worked" Saturday and Sunday. In reality, Saturday I got to follow everyone around the site in my street clothes and learn how everything goes. I also got to feed our calves which are so cute. Sunday I read my manual and then got to plant six rows in the nursery garden.

Today, I cleaned my room so I can actually sleep on my bed instead of on my couch. Now I'm working on my last student teaching ap, then I'm heading up to St. Cloud to drop it of and hitting the store because we're out of TP. Isn't that exciting.

Movers and Shakers Inc.

Me and Anthony decided that we're opening a hauling business for finals week. All we need to do is develop a business plan and commandeer Anna's truck.

Woo-woo.

I can hear the money rolling in.

Weekend for Slacking

Friday night I read Julia London's Extreme Bachelor.
Saturday at work was Shana Galen's Pride and Petticoats.
Last night was Leigh Greenwood's The Mavericks.

Tonight needs to be my ELL project instead of the Katie MacAllister book screaming at me to read it. LOL.

Finals

One done, four to go.

Applied Concepts and Philosophical Musing

As some final words of wisdom yesterday, my Teaching English Language Learners professor told us not to base our entire teaching career on our student teaching experience or our first year of teaching. He explained that we'll be going through culture shock, because strangely enough, this phenomenon doesn't just apply to actually moving.

That's when I realized that I go through culture shock every semester. I start in the honeymoon phase where I adore my classes. They sound crazy interesting. The assignments are exciting. The work load isn't heavy. The professor is fantastic at their job.

Then mid-terms start to creep up and I get hostile. Every single class is discussing the same fucking thing. I am so fucking behind. Free time? Ha. What is that? The professor is evil incarnate (but not the devil because that is mathematics).

Soon it gradually grows into spastic fit that is normally caused by lack of sleep, lots of caffeine, and writing lesson plans for an entire 5 day unit and I spew my brains out on somebody. Also known as "Lisa's micro-managed day" where everything is allotted time periods, including when I get to eat. This would be acclimation.

Recovery. That magic week before finals. For some it's called the "I-don't-give-a-shit" period. But for me, I'm all peace, love, and rock 'n roll because it really doesn't matter if I don't get stuff done. All that's left is a test.

Ah, and then starts the honeymoon for next semester....

Too Little Sleep...Too Little caffeine

Instead of going to bed last night after grocery shopping, me and Anna watched the Extended cut of A Knight's Tale (which pretty much had the original DVD deleted scenes spliced into their proper places). That of course meant that we went to be VERY early this morning, which in turn made me wake up later than normal.

Sleeping late must do something to my brain because I've been off all day. I showed up to work an hour early, and then I kept misreading the word 'desk' (I thought it said door) on a memo this morning.

Gah. Maybe I shouldn't be doing my homework today.

Camping

In Social Psych yesterday our professor was trying to illustrate the Door-in-the-face Effect. To do this, she used an example about her nephews that happened while they were camping, which apparently is an activity that she despises.

End of an Era *Tear* One of the Last Palladino Episodes.

The episode was written by Amy Sherman-Palladino & Daniel Palladino and directed by Jamie Babbit.

Atleast I Didn't Get Threatened This Time

Everybody feels lucky for having you as a friend.

As we sit watching Pride & Prejudice, eating Chinese, and drinking contraband in my room on a Sunday night when the three of us should have been doing homework.

It's the First Weekend in May...

and that can mean only one thing:

Derby Day!

Come Saturday, I'll (well actually I'll be at work for the big race so that'll get taped) be lounging in my living room wearing my hat, sipping a mint julep, and laying my money down.

Right now I've got my eye on Sinister Minister, which incidentally is a Baffert horse. To get your picks, vist Kentucky Derby.com and check out all those sexy horses.

***Don't forget to check out the fillies on Friday in the Oaks. Balance seems to be the favorite among the handicapers, but I think I might go with either Ex Caelis, the Lukas horse or maybe Wait a While. We'll have to see.

If I Still Like Johnny After Charlie

I can still like Keith after seeing this video from his early days as an artist in Australia when this was the look for the young and hip. Afterall, he's probably about 23 here, so that means when I get to be his age all of my college pictures will make me cringe.
