Interesting and kinda weird, yet touching.

I watched two dvd's this weekend, and when talking about them to my sister, described them both with that phrase.

The first was Ed Wood, starring Johnny Depp, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Bill Murry and directed by the one and only, Tim Burton. It's about the "worst film director of-all-time" who is played by Johnny Depp. The character is also a transvestite, who is chums with Dracula. The scenes between Eddie and Bella Lugosi are very touching and show the strength of human friendship. But the movie is really wacked out in other aspects.

The other was Pieces of April, starring Katie Holmes (Dawson's Creek) and Oliver Platt (The Three Musketeers). April (Katie) is the misfit of the family, and somehow, has been suckered into making the Thanksgiving meal, when she has no idea how to go about it. While making the perfect meal memory for her family, April learns about compassion, friendship, and forgiveness...Her family however, is a very different story. This one is great for someone who has never had a great/good/mildly civil relationship with their mother.
